“He who returns from a journey is not the same as he who left.” — Chinese proverb
Two different people will be using our passports early in the morning. Tomorrow we fly home, but we are not the same people who boarded that Virgin Atlantic flight the first of June. Our passports declare us to be the same people, but only we know that we are forever changed. But we will probably slip through with the changes undetected.
So it is a bittersweet evening for us. Yes, we are eager to get back to the life that we dearly love, but we have been so fortunate to be able to live our dream to spend at least a little time blending into another culture. No, we are not Brits. We did not buy a tumble dryer or go to “university.” But we came as close as we will ever come to immersing ourselves in another culture. What a hoot- we were actually asked for directions at least twice!
We will just leave you with a few pictures we like. We look forward to seeing you on the other side of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.
Simpson’s in the Strand.
Logan on the way to Greenwich.
Harvey and Haley aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh.
Haley and RA in Brussels in a fab restaurant.
Brass rubbing in St. Martin in the Fields.
The countryside of Holland.
The Lake District.
Perfection in the form of strawberries from the Borough Market.
My sweet Lil Bit in Amsterdam.
FDR and Churchill.
The Birthday Boy in the London Eye!
Beautiful Harvey aboard “The Tourist” in Amsterdam.
The statue of a man who needs no introduction with a clock that needs no introduction.
Perfection on a sofa with their “filthy minkeys.” It’s a Rick and Logan thing. Logan and his filthy minkey have been all over the place. They invited Harvey to join their “club.” He accepted, as you can see.
You two will no doubt return home speaking with a Brit accent! We look forward to seeing you and hearing all about it!
Safe travels. We love you!
We also have enjoyed your visit to OZ. Thanks to the wonderful narratives that y’all have provided the commoners back home. Judy and I also hiked in the Lake District. We have a very similar view of that same lake. It’s going to be nice to have you home. Safe trip!
Love all of the pictures and blogs!!!
